Are you a sw***er? I’m talking about earrings, of course. What did you think I meant? 😜

These earrings have two hinges connecting the star to the black hole that is slowly drawing it closer as the star's own gravity resists. Watch as I set the hinges into place and bring all that movement to life.

Some earrings are for those who like to play it safe. These are for the more adventurous.

Sometimes the gem show comes to you. ✨
I asked my favorite lapidary artist, Greg Genovese, to cut a few pairs of magnetite jade for me in a specific shape I had in mind for earrings.

He did. And then he sent me the rest of the batch to choose from. As in… $12,000 worth of magnetite jade showed up on my doorstep. 😳

For a few glorious days, I had my own private gem show spread out in front of me—and first dibs on every stone.

No, I did not keep them all. I showed some restraint. 😂 But these are the ones that made the cut, and I feel incredibly lucky to have had the opportunity to choose from the full collection.

Now comes the fun part: turning them into jewelry worthy of the stones. ✨ Which one would you have grabbed first?

What happens when science meets myth?
For my final Spirit of Space spotlight before tonight’s opening reception, I’m sharing a piece that lives right at that intersection: Crown Comet.

Comets are real celestial travelers, transformed by heat and sunlight as they move through the solar system. But throughout history, humans have also seen them as omens, messengers, and symbols of change.

Crown Comet brings those two ways of seeing the sky together. Its imagined myth tells of seven celestial guardians who combine their light into a golden crown and cast it into the heavens, where it becomes a blazing Comet.

For me, that’s where so much of the wonder lives—not in choosing between science and story, but in allowing both to shape how we see the universe.

Do you believe in second chances? Earlier this year, Laniakea Interwoven stepped into the 2026 Battle of the Rings competition—and made it all the way to the Round of 16 before being knocked out by some seriously stiff competition.

But that wasn’t the end of her story.

Now she's getting a second moment in the spotlight as part of Spirit of Space at Art for the People Gallery—and she is once again available for viewing and purchase.

Inspired by Laniakea, the immense supercluster of galaxies that includes our own Milky Way, this ring traces the idea of galaxies moving together in a vast cosmic current—a reminder that nothing in the universe moves alone.

I loved watching so many of you cheer this ring on during Battle of the Rings. Now she gets another chance to be seen up close—and maybe even to find the person she was meant for.

Why do comets grow tails? Today’s Spirit of Space spotlight comes from my Comets collection: Sun Grazer.

Comets are made of ice, dust, and rock. As they travel closer to the Sun, heat causes their frozen materials to vaporize, releasing gas and dust around the nucleus. Solar radiation and the solar wind then push that material outward, creating the glowing tails we associate with comets.

Sungrazing comets take that journey to the extreme, passing extraordinarily close to the Sun.
That combination of heat, light, movement, and transformation inspired these earrings.
Gold druzies glow beneath sterling silver forms patterned with 24k gold starbursts, while articulated hinges allow the different elements to move independently—echoing the shifting motion of a comet in flight.

Have you ever wondered where my logo came from? For today’s Spirit of Space spotlight, I’m sharing a piece that has a special place in the story of Laurie Davis Jewelry.

Meet Dragon Unleashed—the pendant that became the inspiration for my brand logo.
Part of my Solar Flare collection, this piece is inspired by the moment a solar flare breaks free, erupting outward with an energy that can no longer be contained.

Intersecting forms sweep across a dark Magnetite Jade stone accented with 18k gold, while a chocolate diamond adds another point of light. Sterling silver, 20k gold and 18k gold carry that sense of movement across the pendant.

When it came time to create a symbol for Laurie Davis Jewelry, I kept coming back to the radiating, intersecting lines of this piece. Those lines ultimately became the mark you now see in my logo.

So in a way, Dragon Unleashed isn’t just part of the collection—it helped shape the identity of the brand itself.

What keeps us connected, even when we remain apart? As I count down to the opening of Spirit of Space at Art for the People Gallery, today’s spotlight turns to Cohesion, a pair of earrings from my Laniakea collection.

Laniakea is the vast supercluster of galaxies that includes our own Milky Way. Within it, countless galaxies remain distinct, yet move within the same gravitational field—separate bodies shaped by a shared force. That idea became Cohesion.

Each earring pairs luminous rutilated quartz with an elongated sculptural form below, joined so that the two elements move in response to one another. Sterling silver is accented with 18k and 24k gold, while black onyx behind the quartz deepens the golden threads running through the stones.

Independent. Connected. In motion together.
For me, Cohesion is a reminder that connection doesn’t require sameness—or even stillness. Sometimes it simply means moving in the same direction.
