Here’s another gem from our ongoing behind the scenes series.
Sofie, jeweler extraordinaire, the S in MAST is telling us about her introduction to creating jewelry as a teenager in Denmark.
We are always looking for ways to be more sustainable, and this video shows just one of the ways we do this.
Sofie is recycling scrap silver by melting the silver to about 900°C. The surface tension pulls the metal into a compact, perfect little ball , which is then flattened by hammer and rolling mill, making a new recycled piece of silver for the back of a new bezel setting.
We think it’s a beautiful process, don’t you?
Shop Sofie’s many pieces using recycled material online and in store.
