Leanne J. Kriz, age 67, of Sioux Falls, SD, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 31, 2026. Her Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM Thursday, June 4, 2026, at George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory, Sioux Falls. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM on Thursday, also at the funeral home.
Leanne Joy De Jager was born in Pipestone, MN; she moved with her family to Maurice, IA, and later to Alvord and Inwood, IA. She attended Rock Valley Christian Grade School and graduated from Western Christian High School in Hull, IA. Following graduation, she worked as a receptionist in a dental office in Inwood and Sioux Center, IA, before serving in the Sioux County Courthouse Assessor’s Office in Orange City. She later worked at Kooima Manufacturing, Midwest Title & Abstract Company, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of South Dakota. She also served as a medical claims examiner.
She married Roger Kriz in Sioux Falls on March 12, 1983, and together they shared 42 years in the same home. They were blessed with two children, Nick and Stacey. Her family later grew to include grandsons Carter and Kane, whom she loved dearly.
A longtime member of First Reformed Church in Sioux Falls, she enjoyed spending time with her family, participating in children’s activities, reading, attending music events, and being outdoors. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
Throughout her life, she faced numerous health challenges, including diabetes, congestive heart failure, atrial fibrillation, and kidney disease, with strength and faith. Her family finds comfort in knowing she has been welcomed home to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Roger Kriz of Sioux Falls, SD; son, Nick (Megan) Kriz of Sioux Falls, SD; daughter, Stacey Kriz of Harrisburg, SD; two beloved grandsons, Carter and Kane Kriz of Sioux Falls, SD; her mother, Helen De Jager of Rock Valley, IA; three brothers, Darwin (Carla) De Jager of Doon, IA, Herlan (Jeaneen) De Jager of Rock Valley, IA, and Kyle (Mindy) De Jager of Alvord, IA; sister-in-law, Margaret De Jager of Doon, IA; several aunts, uncles, many cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Leanne was preceded in death by her father, Donald D. De Jager; her brother, Mike De Jager; and a stillborn sister, Mona Joy.
