YOUR DAILY DOSE OF GEMS & JEWELRY INFORMATION

Not even once in a red moon you will see
A Blue DIAMOND

I am not talking bluish, I MEAN BLUE

By the way, it is called "Blue Moon" :)

Now, Sotheby’s just announced it has another important blue diamond in its arsenal for the autumn auction season, the Blue Moon Diamond. At 12.03 carats and deemed Internally Flawless by the GIA, this important stone is believed to be among the largest fancy vivid blues known and is estimated to fetch between $35 and 55 million.

Technical info: The fancy blue hue is due to trace amounts of boron scattered within the crystal matrix.

The PICTURE is not the diamond which I will be talking about, it is only there to help you visualize it. But nothing can compare to the real diamond.

I am talking about this particular parcel of ONE diamond which was “thrown” at my desk with a big smile on the owner’s face, when I was in Geneva, Switzerland in late 1993 on a special assignment

When I opened the parcel, there was one blue extremely well cut 5ct VIVID BLUE diamond, (the most vivid blue diamond in existence thus far). I opened an invoice which stated $5,000,001.00 which was just to indicated OVER 5 Million US Dollars :) at wholesale, and he said, I bought it, what do you think? I smiled and said, I didn’t know that you could put a price on such a GEM. (He got the point)

YOUR DAILY DOSE OF GEMS & JEWELRY INFORMATION

Tiffany & Co. back in 2013 unveiled the Blue Book Creations

“Tiffany’s celebrated Blue Book, the jeweler’s annual publication that showcases the latest and most spectacular jewels in all their glamour and brilliance, has been arriving in customers’ mail boxes since 1845. It is the first mail order catalogue to be distributed in the U.S. Over time the book has evolved from line drawings to glossy photographs and its cover from navy blue to Tiffany Blue®, the distinctive robin’s-egg blue that famously graces the jeweler’s boxes and shopping bags. This vibrant hue has become an international symbol of quality and sophistication.

“Founder Charles Lewis Tiffany designed the Blue Book as a merchant’s personal communication to his clientele. If customers were otherwise engaged, the jeweler was more than happy to come to them in the form of an elegant picture book filled with breathtaking, one-of-a-kind jewels that would entice them to come to the store.
