Cracked shank on Diamond engagement ring. A reminder that having your jewelry cleaned and inspected is very important. Damage that is not visible to the naked eye, like a hairline crack, can cause a loss. And it will seem like it suddenly broke when it had been developing over time. The cost of maintenance is much better than repair or replacement. And yes , though small this crack was 60-70% of the way through the metal.
