Sasha, you were everybody’s dog. There wasn’t a person that met you that didn’t fall in love with you. But that isn’t how you started. You came to us broken and close to death. You were the dog nobody was interested in. Except for Oliver. We might have strongly steered Oliver in your direction, but you were his dog. And once you realized you were safe with us you began thanking us every chance you got. You started by ripping apart the studio sized kennel we built you under the mango tree. And instead of running away once you were free you patiently waited on the steps for us to come home. Eventually we realized that any kind of gate was not an option for you. You had been caged enough. And that’s when you began thanking us by chewing everything in site. Half a mattress, electric tooth brushes, toilet bowl scrubbers, dressers, anything with a power cord, doors, my gucci belt, an entire bag of makeup and most recently a whole bedroom mirror. But as soon as we walked through the door you became the best behaved dog. You just didn’t want to be left out. You were loyal and kind. When you snuggled you couldn’t get close enough. Always up for a car ride or a beach day but never ever a walk. There is not a dog in this world that refuses to go on a walk like you did. You would all but lay down the moment we dared to leave the driveway with you. You were home and that was that. I think that is what I will miss the most. Your dedication to us, your knowledge that we were yours. I would rescue you again and again if I could. I’m so thankful you took your last breath in the yard we worked so hard to build you, at the home you so obviously cherished. Thank you for loving us so much that you would chew the entire world to be by our side. I love you sweet Sasha girl.
