"For a long time I worked mainly in silver with colored stones. My love of color was what first attracted me to dichroic glass. I liked that I could make my own “stones” to go with the settings I was already creating. My design process is fairly organic. I start by gathering my materials and then I try to envision the end results. I prefer to work directly with the materials, so everything is indi

vidually hand made. The glass cabochons are made by layering different colors of glass into shapes and patterns, which are then fired in a kiln. This method is called “kiln-fusing” or “slumping.” The glass objects are made in groups. I then create the setting to suit the individual piece. We got some water today, in 20 minutes it went from dry to hail and rain pouring down the hill and across our yard. I like the hail because it soaks in as it slowly melts. Temperature is 45 degrees right now, 9000ft altitude.

My photo booth. There's 4 small clamp-on lights on the sides and one larger above, all covered with white rip-stop nylon. The center is a plexiglass cube covered with the same fabric to diffuse the lights, on riswrs. I use 3 daylight led bulbs, 1 fluorescent, and one slightly pink bulb, as I get more natural color that way.
This arrangement is for pendents, hanging from the top, with a black backdrop. All parts can be rearranged as needed.
The camera is a Nikon D5200. I was looking at newer cameras but bought a new closeup lens instead. The tripod is mandatory for jewelry closeups.

Life blossoms anew in spring. These are wild plum trees, planted along many roads in Boulder.

As for me, my bones are healing properly, and by Monday, 4/20/25, I will be able to stop wearing my back brace. And I will be free to bend, twist, and carry anything I want to.

So my life starts anew. Back to making jewelry, fusing glass objects, and fixing anything in my house I want to change. A new light fixture and some new shelves are first on the list. And snow is predicted, so shoveling may happen.

Sorry I haven't been posting lately. I fell on the ice and cracked a few vertebrae. I was on a high amounts of Tylenol for several weeks, and moving real slow. My thick belt is to restrict my motions. I can't bend forward or pick up things weighing over 10 pounds.
I'm starting to feel better, but have at least a month to go before my back should be healed. My xrays in 3 weeks to check my progress.
