I’m so happy to finally show you the finished Bobbie Goods embroidered sweatshirt that I made for my daughter! Soph🧿🌛🧜‍♀️🩵 is obsessed with Bobbie Goods coloring books, and this page was a freebie pdf that I got when I ordered her some books last Christmas. I printed it onto a water-soluble page and use that as the template. I stuck the pattern onto a piece of a white sweatshirt that I got at the thrift store because I really wanted it to look like a coloring page that was only partly finished. It was absolutely a labor of love! I really enjoyed working on it and it kept me busy for about a month. Seriously! The French knots that I did for the bushes probably took a total of four or five hours over three evenings.

The original idea was to save it and give it to Sophia at Christmas but I just couldn’t wait and I’m really glad that I showed it to her before I put it on the sweatshirt because we ended up making a few changes: adding embroidery to the leaves on the ground, stitching the little “flowers” on the bottom right and changing the color of the flowers on the hat. (The bright turquoise color felt wrong to me, and when I brought it up to her, she totally agreed.)

Sophia always puts pink on the character’s cheeks so I had to add a little “blush” to this cutie!

I redid the awning multiple times because I didn’t like the way it came out. I really wanted the top part of it to look lighter as if the sun was hitting it. I did that part two different times and was about to pick it all out and redo it 😳 when when I got some good advice from a fellow embroiderer; she said, “You’ve just been looking at it for too long. It looks great. leave it alone!”

I was paralyzed with fear to embroider the body because I really wanted the “fur” to go in the right directions and for the belly to be a little lighter but I love how a yellow that match the awning came out. (You can see those turquoise flowers on the hat here. They just didn’t work with anything else so I picked them out and changed it a yellow shade that was in the awning.)

Is anyone surprised that I went for full mismatched maximalism after seeing the Dries Van Noten spring ‘27 collection ? No? I didn’t think so. (Oh — and by the way, I added those pink beaded name bracelets to the website and they’re part of the Personalized Gifts sale. 😉 Ends tonight at 11:59!)
