Sapphire is generally known as a blue gemstone, but also comes in a wide range of other colors, called “fancy” sapphires, as seen in this unique piece.

The mineral species corundum includes both sapphire and ruby. Red corundum is known as ruby and all other colored corundum (including colorless, or white sapphire as it is known in the trade) is categorized as sapphire.

Vintage meets one-of-a-kind with this sterling silver and genuine ruby art nouveau necklace.

Originally a post earring who lost her twin many years ago, Neill converted this classic art nouveau female face into a necklace by creatively reusing elements from three different damaged pieces of jewelry.

Ruby, the birthstone of July, has long symbolized love, courage, protection, and wealth. In Burmese tradition the blood-red stone was always worn on the left side, nearest the heart, to provide the greatest protection. Notice the placement of our ruby, on the wearer’s left side. ❤️🔮
