If you asked me what the most common jewelry repair is, you'd probably guess ring sizing.

Honestly, so would most people.

But after years at the bench, I've learned Wichita's most common jewelry repair isn't what most people think.

I wrote a quick story about it and why so many pieces end up forgotten in a jewelry box when they could be worn again.

Most people would’ve walked right past this ring.

Not because it wasn’t beautiful…

Because they never would’ve noticed what was missing.

A tiny marquise diamond had fallen out, leaving a gap that only the owner seemed to see. But that’s the thing about jewelry. The little details matter when it’s your ring.

After finding the right replacement diamond and carefully setting it into place, this ring is whole again.

Swipe from before to after and tell me…

Could you spot what was missing?

💎 Jewelry repair isn’t always about fixing something broken. Sometimes it’s about making sure a piece of someone’s story keeps shining.

America turns 250 years old next month.

Let that sink in for a second...

For 250 years, generations of Americans have built, served, sacrificed, and dreamed under the same flag.

To celebrate this historic milestone, we created a limited run of sterling silver patriotic charms featuring iconic American imagery:

⭐ We The People
🦅 American Eagle
Stars & Stripes

Whether you're heading to a Fourth of July celebration, honoring a veteran, or simply proud to be an American, these pieces are a meaningful way to wear your pride.

Which one would you choose?

Who sits here next?

That's the question that's been stuck in my head lately.

The bench is ready.
The tools are ready.
The training is ready.

But finding the right person to carry a craft forward...

That's a little harder.

I wrote a story about something that's become increasingly important to me—not repairing jewelry, but preserving the skills behind it.

Maybe it's because I'm getting older.

Maybe it's because Wichita has been so good to me.

Or maybe it's because somebody once took a chance on a Wichita kid who didn't know where life would take him.

Either way, I've been thinking a lot about what happens next.

Been thinking a lot lately…

One day I won’t be sitting at this jeweler’s bench forever.

And honestly… that’s a strange thing to even think about.

What’s been on my mind even more is realizing how few real bench jewelers are coming up behind us anymore.

Jewelry repair is becoming a disappearing trade.

Most people never get to see what actually happens behind the bench — the craftsmanship, the patience, the responsibility that comes with repairing pieces that mean everything to someone.

So lately I’ve been wondering…

Maybe it’s time to start teaching somebody before these skills disappear completely.

I wrote something personal tonight about the future of this trade, what this bench has meant to me over the years, and why preserving craftsmanship matters.

Today feels a little bigger than business. 🇺🇸

This Memorial Day, all of us at Sparkle are taking a moment to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave everything for our freedom. Their sacrifice is the reason we get to enjoy the everyday moments we often take for granted — family, laughter, hard work, and the ability to build something meaningful right here in Wichita.

From our family at Sparkle Jewelry & Watch Repair to yours… thank you to those who served, and especially to those who never made it home.

We remember. We honor. We are forever grateful.

The girls at Team Sparkle apparently thought they were gonna sneak “Saturday” onto the closed-for-the-weekend sign while Tim wasn’t looking… 😅

Unfortunately for them… Tim found a Sharpie.

So yes — we’ll still be here Saturday helping with jewelry repair, ring sizing, watch batteries, custom engraving, and all the last-minute “my wife said I better get this fixed” emergencies. 😂

Moral of the story:
If you’re gonna try to pull a fast one around here… you better be a little smoother than that to get one over on Tim.

🇺🇸 Closed Sunday & Monday for Memorial Day.
Saturday? …we ride. 💎

✨ “You know what’s kind of wild?

Most people don’t remember the day they bought a piece of jewelry…

…but they always remember the moment it became important.”

The engagement ring that survived 27 years of marriage…
The necklace Grandma wore every Sunday…
The watch Dad wore so long the clasp finally gave up before he did…

That’s the stuff that walks through our doors every day.

Not just jewelry.
Not just repairs.

Stories.

And honestly… Wichita has trusted us with a lot of them.

Some days we’re rebuilding rings that were never supposed to be wearable again.
Some days we’re sketching custom pieces at the counter while laughing about Kansas weather changing 4 times before lunch.
Some days people stop in “just to ask a question”… and end up staying an hour.

That’s what happens when a jewelry store still feels personal.

No pressure.
No sales pitch.
No “take a number.”

Just real conversations…
real craftsmanship…
and people who genuinely care what happens when you leave here.

And maybe that’s why this little appointment-only jewelry shop on the east side keeps growing the way it has.

So whether you need a repair, redesign, watch service, engagement ring, or just somebody honest to look at something important to you…

We’ll be right here.
