Arcanum exists because we stumbled upon a natural phenomenon... Bismuth crystals. We did not discover this metallic element's natural tendency to form these absolutely breathtaking crystals, but we did wonder why a phenomenon like this exists and we had never heard about it. sion to get to the bottom of this. After extensive research (there isn't that much information out there about element 83's crystallization... In fact bismuth isn't even really used for much nowadays, mostly low melt industrial alloys and medication (pepto bismol), we decided the best way to figure this puzzle out would be to get ahold of some ore and run experiments ourselves. We quickly realized that we have a knack for cultivating these amazing pearlescent, angular, stairstepped, square-spiral elemental metal crystals. We still don't exactly know why these crystals aren't more widespreadly known and used, but we figure their fragility has got to be the biggest reason. After literally hundreds of hours of experimental work in our lab, we have adopted small-batch, precision-centric cultivation methods that produce stronger formations. We have also familiarized ourselves with the quirky, brittle structural nature of this material (this involved the destruction of a lot of crystals... a necessary sacrifice!) so that the pieces we make are as strong as possible. The combination of these processes requires much more time, but the craftsmanship of our crystal pieces are unmatched!
