Finally gluing the wires. For some reason, getting the silver foil properly attached was a total pain the A. I'm using Soyer #3 flux, which is fairly hard and it's a big piece. I was being too precious about the temperature, and the squares were just falling off. I ending up just cranking up the temperature of the kiln to 1440F and soaking it for 4 minutes. Did the trick.

Mini June Challenge!

It's been a crazy nine months of family responsibilities, and I haven't made a major piece since this past August. I'm SOOO ready to get back into the studio and make something.

I'm starting small: a little copper vessel. Nothing too ambitious, nothing crazy… just a proof-of-concept piece and a chance to get my enameling brain online again. (And maybe find out whether that silver rim plays nice!)

Two things to share!

I’ve just posted the second installment in my enameling on copper earrings series... perfect for beginners and anyone wanting to build confidence with the basics.
