We are packing this order up to take to Soul Intention Gallery in Clayton, GA. We are honored to be represented by such an outstanding art gallery!

If you’ve never been to Clayton, this weekend would be a great time to make a day trip out to check it out. There is a street festival, the Ramshackle, happening Saturday with live music, vendors, food and drinks!

We are working in the garden for a little while this morning. Sometimes we have to take a break from playing in the shop and do some hard work to keep from getting lazy😂.

We were looking forward to using these magnolia logs for our snowmen because it’s usually a very light, evenly colored wood. This log had other plans.

Instead of the clean, light, and even color we expected, these slabs are filled with black streaks and beautiful variations throughout the grain. There’s way too much character here to turn into snowmen!

I can’t really say I’m disappointed, but the only problem now is figuring out what I’m going to use for snowmen before our Christmas in July open house!

They say lightening never strikes again in the same spot . . .

Our friend Jason who does beautiful work in wood strikes again! We’ve made a serious commitment to make his work a permanent fixture in our galleries. This week we will be clearing out more room for his not only affordable but beautiful wood works of art! These vibrant wood creations are in limited quantities, so start peddling your bike faster for the better pieces! Available only through the galleries in Sedona, AZ. BTW that rock is turquoise, not teal?🤪🤫😂

When we started turning mushrooms last year, the most popular by far was the live edge ones. We have a big batch of those rough turned and drying slowly to hopefully avoid cracks. These will be finished and available at our Christmas in July open house on July 25. We will also have them available online in July!

We’re cutting up the biggest magnolia logs that we have ever had here. Thought this was gonna be our snowmen logs since it’s usually white and clear. This one… not so much.

Some days we have to work, some days we get to play!

The question we get asked most is, “How much time do you have in one piece?”

The honest answer… we don’t really know.

Because we work in batches, we’re constantly moving pieces through different stages instead of completing one from start to finish. At any given time, we’ve got pieces in progress all over the shop. I figured I’d show some pictures of our work in process to better explain things.

It starts with logs, which we slab and begin drying.

Then they’re cut into various sized blanks, turned into cylinders, and dried again.

From there, we rough turn them into vases, bowls, candles, and more—followed by more drying.

Once the moisture is just right, they’re turned and sanded again, then burned with 2000 volts of electricity.

After another round of drying, epoxy is added, and finally each piece is sanded and finished by hand.

So while we can’t give an exact number of hours, every piece goes through a long, hands-on process from start to finish.

I’ll have to admit when we start selling at a new gallery, I’m always a little anxious about how we will do. Several weeks ago, we sent our first order to Sedona, Arizona and held our breath.😬

Well, we must have been well received out west, because we are packing up their next order this morning! I can’t wait to see how these cherry pieces do out there.
