An opalescent sapphire from Vietnam with soft petal-like zoning and a hazy glow that shifts between pink, lilac, and warm peach.

The colors feel almost suspended inside the stone, changing gently as it moves in the light. It reminds me a little of pressed flower petals or watercolor left to dry on paper.

One of those sapphires that feels quiet at first, then slowly becomes more interesting the longer you look at it.

I kept these small spinels together for a long time because they felt like a tiny constellation.

Natural crystal forms, soft pink tones, each one slightly different. Some lean peach, some rose, some almost raspberry. The kind of stones that make you imagine little rings, talismans, or simply a small thing to keep.

Different types of inclusions in red spinel specimens from Luc Yen, Vietnam.

You can see a mix of growth lines, feather like fractures, and small mineral inclusions formed during the crystal’s development. These internal features interact with light in different ways, sometimes creating a soft inner glow, sometimes breaking it into subtle flashes.
