Sometimes the best investments are the ones nobody is looking at… until everyone is.

Two years ago, we bought this Daniel Roth Datomax in white gold for £9,000—just days before the Daniel Roth name was acquired by LVMH.

At the time, there was very little interest outside of dedicated collectors.

Fast forward two years, and the landscape has changed dramatically.

Today, there is currently just one example available globally, offered at £32,000, with pre-Bulgari Daniel Roth watches becoming increasingly difficult to find in any reference. The market has woken up to the incredible design, independent watchmaking heritage and rarity of these early pieces.

We won’t be selling ours anytime soon—we’ve all become far too attached to it—but it’s a great reminder that sometimes the biggest opportunities come from looking where few others are.

Luxury watches shouldn’t be bought purely as investments. Buy what you genuinely love. But every now and then, if you have the conviction to back something before the rest of the market catches on, the results can be remarkable.
