Drawing inspiration from the beautiful fauna and flora found in Cape Town, South Africa Botanica Hand Crafted Jewellery creates modern, distinctive, botanical pieces of jewellery. The first apartment my husband and I moved into together, nestled in a suburb in the heart of Cape Town City, came with its own modest patch of soil.

I immediately knew it was a space that I could turn into my own garden. Over the years that tiny garden flourished, not without its trials, into a sanctuary of colour and fragrance. With patience, resilience, and joy, i watched it grow into a space that fed my soul more than our mouths (growing veggies was a learning curve!)

From that joy and the dream for a bigger garden for future me, complete with a lemon tree, veggie patch, and a porch for long chats over tea or w**e, this collection was born. Each piece is a tribute to the small gifts the garden gives and the magic they bring to everyday life.

In the 18 months since I first began creating this collection, we’ve moved into our first house, which, ironically, has a sand pit where a garden will one day (hopefully) flourish again.

As time moves and life changes, dreams big and small come to fruition, I am reminded of how inspiring and grounding I find gardens. How deeply personal they are and how much I find them worth celebrating. As I prepare to tackle the task of establishing a new garden, I was reminded how much joy I poured into this collection and decided it was time to invite you once again to enjoy these charms and personal talismans.

It’s very rare that a finished piece surprises me quite like this ring did. I initially imagined it as a ring that would be worn on the index finger as a talisman, pointing true north.

But as the design came together I started feeling like it could be a really classic, yet contemporary engagement ring.

This ring has been fully hand-manufactured in solid 9ct yellow gold, set with a dynamic emerald cut sapphire, and expertly hand-engraved to create a piece that dances between both bold and delicate. It’s a beautiful reminder that two things can be true at once, a common golden thread through our designs this year.

A very first look at our completely handmade chain - fitted with our seasonal fruit charms in solid sterling silver.

The ch*****ne coupe is the epitome of celebration symbolism to us, we can’t wait to share more on how this lovely celebratory charm came to be.

Our Arum Frog charm is a symbol of transformation and good fortune. These little frogs are often found nestled within the soft folds of Arum Lilies, and this charm has been designed for those who enjoy a garden’s hidden magic.

This charm has been designed to celebrate spring in full bloom. It has been crafted with intricate detail, from the basked weaves to the blossoms it holds. A piece that is perfect for flower lovers and garden enthusiasts.

These unique hoops are our botanical twist on a classic. They are a much-loved Botanica design and we absolutely adore the organic detail of the branch textures on these classic hoops.

A fun little Citrus Wedge charm which feels like a cheerful slice of sunshine. It’s a light-hearted not to zesty citrus drinks, garden harvests, and life’s sweet moments.

The sunny lemon charm is a little symbol of purification and spiritual growth. Inspired by the old lemon trees of our childhood gardens, this charm makes the perfect pieces for garden lovers with nostalgic hearts.

This tiny charm has a big story. It was inspired by the well-worn metal watering can my grandmother used each day in her garden, this watering can charm carries the memory of gentle hands and blooming seasons.

A reminder that summer is around the corner! Strawberries are such a cheerful celebration of the season’s first fruits. We associate these bright berries with the return of warmth and lighter days!

This collection holds memories, meaning, and little stories rooted in gardens and nostalgia.

Each Into the Garden piece is a celebration of gardens and garden-lovers alike, holding their own special stories and intended to hold yours too.

We will be opening up a very limited ordering window for select Into the Garden pieces on the 20th of October. Orders will close on the 17th of November and these pieces will not be available until next year some time.

If you’ve followed our journey for a while, you’ll be familiar with our iconic ‘Bouquet Ring’. If you’re new here, our Bouquet Ring design is inspired by the combination of shapes and colours found in a bouquet of flowers.

This Bouquet Ring is a little different though. Instead of our usual colourful cluster, we’ve created a neutral-toned take on our beloved Bouquet Ring. This one features a gorgeous yellow-toned centre diamond which sits amid a cluster of brown and colourless natural diamonds, with the addition of two small yellow sapphires, and finished with a pear-shaped diamond at either end.

It’s a truly unique addition to the Bouquet family.

As we prepare to release new Bespoke Rings, I have been reminiscing about the journey of creating these limited edition collections. Gemstones that stopped me in my tracks and practically “begged” to be made into rings. Many different stories I have imagined about who would love each ring and why.

Every ring coming together because we love all the design elements, and we are certain there will be “a Botanica person” who loves them too.

With tones of brown, yellow, and gold clusters and one single sapphire: Botanica Bespoke Release Number Seven arrives tomorrow. And I can’t wait for you to see each ring!

Welcome to Episode Three of the “Gentle Business Series” where I explore trying to run a small handmade business without the burnout.

Here’s our 8 week update:

I think I’m starting to move from the messy middle of this change into a new, more creative rhythm. For the first time in years, I’ve started working on the projects I’ve had knocking around in my mind for ages. The first project is the “Forgotten Stone Collection”. I am finally designing jewellery pieces for stones I’ve collected throughout this journey, some of them I’ve had for nearly a decade.

This is a peek at my stones collection, but you’ll have to wait for episode four to see what I do with them!
