A few days of lovely weather, late in the season. Very few fish rising but taking fish on the top none the less.. An afternoon off from all of the renovating.. 16 fish to the net, mostly really pretty grayling, a couple of cracking brownies with serious girth and big teeth. !! A lovely afternoon on the water, curtailed by having to pick up my gorgeous wife from the office. She works hard to keep us in vittles :-) I can't complain, lovely river, gorgeous wife, time to renovate as I would like. Season about to end and making the most of the sunshine. A couple more good days in the forecast, plastering might have to wait :-)

AUSTRALIAN COUPLE/ ITALIAN INTERESTED IN #3 WOODLANDS COTTAGE NEWBRIDGE ON WYE...A shot in the dark. Apparently there was a couple from Australia interested in our cottage here at Woodlands Newbridge on Wye. They are visiting and were apparently keen to see the cottage where the husband had been born. They are apparently traveling by bus/train and here in the UK for still some time. Sadly they didn't contact us. But if you have any information which might put us in touch it would be greatly appreciated. With six degrees of separation at play, perhaps someone can link us up. Thanks

Been trying to solve a few issues with my Euronymphing outfit. Searches for solutions proved less simple than I imagined and in the end came up with a solution of my own.

Damp days, Euro-Nymphing and line stick. I have been doing OK here on the upper Wye in mid-Wales, rarely actually suffering a blank but always wondering if things shouldn’t be better than they are.…

A brief session on the Wye yesterday evening. Gorgeous to be out, still air, surrounded by greenery. Missed a few but got a lump of a grayling on a tiny dry. A few others too, but more than enough to make it a pleasant outing.

An inauspicious start to the day, exploring a wild stream which turned out to be pretty but far too overgrown to be rightfully fishable. So a switch of venue to the Wye downstream of Builth and some fish rising to midges. Nasty downstream breeze kept on interfering with the feeding but did well with over 20 decent sized fish. Plus one half decent grayling and a small chub to add to the mix.. One fish with a LOT of lice on him/her a bit concerned about that. But all in all a great Sunday morning on the water. The universe owed me one to be honest, after lots of poor outings with chill breezes and few fish rising.

Had a great morning on the town water in Builth, lots of decent trout. But this one has a considerable infestation of Argulus lice as can be seen along the back of the fish. I have caught a lot of trout in this river and never seen this before.. cause for concern?

A poor image of my PB, I am pretty sure it is a minnow, but not certain. Whatever it is, it is the biggest one I have taken on fly. A real whopper, genuinely hooked in the kisser. I'll give myself 10/10 for reaction time, not quite so much for the fight. The fight mostly consisted of this poor minnow flying through the air for about ten metres before hitting me in the chest. I did take more than a few wild stream trout too.. :-)
