They happened between tastings, in conversations with old friends, in the laughter shared across the room and in those little moments that remind us what makes the Cape Winemakers Guild so special.

Because beyond the remarkable w**es and the excitement of the Auction, there's a community of people brought together by a shared passion for w**emaking.

A look back at the 42nd Cape Winemakers Guild Auction. 🍷
The venue. The w**es. The details. The food. The memories. And, of course, the bidding!

This year brought a new setting for the Guild Auction, with the beautiful Brickfield Canvas providing the backdrop for two days where fine w**e, art, craftsmanship and community came together.

From the first tastings to the final fall of the hammer, every moment was a reminder that the Auction is about so much more than the w**es themselves. It's about the people who craft them, the connections made along the way and the shared passion that brings this community together year after year.

A record-breaking year for South African fine w**e. 🍷The 42nd Cape Winemakers Guild Auction has officially raised the bar, reaching a total of R18 223 000 over two remarkable days!

Hosted by at our new home, Brickfield Canvas in Woodstock, the Auction brought together w**e collectors, enthusiasts and industry leaders from around the world to celebrate the very best of South African w**emaking.

A few highlights worth raising a glass to:
- R18 223 000 in total sales, a new Auction record.
- 263 registered bidders from 16 countries, reflecting the growing international appreciation for South African fine w**e.
- 58 exceptional w**es crafted exclusively for the Auction by Cape Winemakers Guild members.
- 100% of lots sold, with 2,220 cases finding new homes.
- For the first time in Guild Auction history, white w**es achieved a higher average bottle price than reds.

Beyond the numbers, this year's Auction was a celebration of craftsmanship, community and the extraordinary people shaping the future of South African w**e.
And the impact continues. A further R655 900 was raised for the Cape Winemakers Guild Protégé Programme, supporting the development of the next generation of South African w**emakers.
To our members, bidders, partners, Strauss & Co and everyone who joined us, thank you for being part of this milestone.

The final hammer has fallen on the 42nd Cape Winemakers Guild Auction, with a record total of R18 223 000! 🍷

Two unforgettable days, exceptional w**es and a new venue that brought w**e and art together beautifully. From the informal tasting to the final bids, the energy was electric as buyers joined us in the room and online and by phone from around the world.

Behind every lot lies the dedication, vision and craftsmanship of our Guild members. This extraordinary result is a celebration of their work and the continued support for South African fine w**e.

Our heritage is found in many places. In the vineyards we work, the w**es we make, the tables we gather around and the traditions that bring us together.
And sometimes, it looks a lot like a group of w**emakers dressed in green, backing the Bokke with a cold one in hand.

Here’s to South African w**e, South African spirit, good food, great company and everything that makes this country so uniquely ours.

The 2026 Cape Winemakers Guild Protégé Auction takes place entirely online, meaning you can discover and bid on w**es made by the next generation of South African w**emakers, wherever you are in the world.
Every bid does more than secure a special bottle. Proceeds from the Protégé Auction support the CWG Protégé Programme, helping create opportunities, mentorship and practical experience for young w**emakers as they build their careers.

Guests had the opportunity to taste this year’s Auction w**es, hear directly from the w**emakers behind them, and get to know the stories, places and decisions that shaped each bottle.

Welcome to the neighbourhood. 🍷📍
Just 50km from Cape Town, Stellenbosch is a place where mountains, vineyards, history and w**emaking are all part of the landscape, and quite a few Cape Winemakers Guild members call it home.
But Stellenbosch isn't one singular expression. From Bottelary to Banghoek and beyond, changes in elevation, aspect, soils and climate create remarkably different growing conditions, sometimes just a few kilometres apart.
And then, of course, there are the w**emakers.
Different varieties. Different philosophies. Different interpretations of place. All part of a w**emaking community that has helped shape the story of South African w**e.
