You can never have too many rings.

I love playing with different styles and seeing how they work together.

A classic round diamond solitaire, a baguette half eternity band and a contemporary cigar band.

Three very different rings, but together they just work.

That’s the fun of custom jewellery. You can mix different shapes, styles and proportions and create a stack that feels completely yours.

And honestly, I don’t think there’s such a thing as too many rings.

There’s more to choosing your gold than just the colour.

9K, 14K and 18K all contain different amounts of pure gold, which affects the colour, durability and price.

9K gold contains 37.5% pure gold. It’s generally the most affordable option and is a popular choice for everyday jewellery.

14K gold contains 58.5% pure gold. It has a warm yellow hue and is generally harder and more resistant to scratching.

18K gold contains 75% pure gold. It has a richer, deeper yellow hue, but is softer than 14K because it contains more pure gold.

Generally, 9K is the most affordable, 14K sits in the middle and 18K is the highest.

So which one should you choose?

There isn’t one right answer. It comes down to the colour you prefer, the amount of pure gold you want, how the ring will be worn and your budget.

This is where custom design gets interesting.

This ring was designed quite low, which meant there wasn’t enough space for a standard band to sit neatly alongside it.

So we designed an open spacer band that fits around the engagement ring instead.

This is one of the things I love about custom design. When we’re designing the rings together, we can look at the full stack and find a solution that works for the design, rather than having to compromise on it.

Sometimes a design limits your options. Sometimes it just means you have to get a little creative.

The result is a ring stack that works beautifully together and is completely personal to the client.

That’s the beauty of custom made.
