The last time I saw you was 25 January 2020. 6 years ago today!
You were at my house, at my son’s birthday party.
Kids laughing, cake everywhere, noise, joy and you there with your daughter, just being you.

None of us knew how much life was about to change.
None of us knew how quickly “normal” could disappear.
None of us knew that day would become a memory I’d hold onto so tightly.

So much has changed since then.
The world changed.
Our lives changed.
And my heart changed forever.

I still picture you there, smiling, present, full of love.
And I carry that version of you with me, always.

New beginnings, big milestones 🤍🎒

Pearl’s two beautiful children have started school together this year. Grade 4 and Grade 1.
All kitted out in their brand-new school things, the excitement (and a few nerves) are very real.

Education remains one of the greatest gifts we can give, and we wish them a year filled with learning, confidence, growth and joy. Pearl would be so incredibly proud.

If anyone would like to help us with school fees, please be in touch.
We settle the children’s school fees in full by the end of January, ensuring they can start the year supported, secure and stress-free.

Today we remember that reconciliation is not forgetting.
It is choosing truth, accountability, healing and unity, even when the wounds are deep.

In South Africa, our past reminds us why reconciliation matters so deeply.
It asks us to listen to one another, to stand against violence and injustice, and to protect women and children so that history does not repeat itself in new forms.

At My Girl Pearl, reconciliation means turning pain into purpose.
It means building safer communities, supporting children, and continuing to speak up, even when it’s uncomfortable.

May today remind us that healing is a journey, and reconciliation begins with action, compassion and courage.
