🇿🇦 SAFETY TIPS FOR WOMEN IN SOUTH AFRICA‼️

Women should never have to live in fear but being prepared can help keep you safer.

If you’re going running or walking:
🏃🏽‍♀️‍➡️Tell someone where you are going and when you expect to return.
🏃🏼‍♀️‍➡️ Share your live location with someone you trust.
🏃🏽‍♀️‍➡️ Choose busy, well-lit routes and avoid isolated areas.
🏃🏾‍♀️‍➡️ Change your route and routine regularly.
🏃🏻‍♀️‍➡️ Keep earphones low or use only one so you remain aware of your surroundings.
🏃🏿‍♀️‍➡️ Don’t post your route or location on social media in real time.
🏃‍♀️‍➡️ Carry your phone, identification and a personal alarm or whistle.
🏃🏽‍♀️‍➡️ If someone makes you uncomfortable, trust your instincts and change direction. Move towards people or a safe public place.
🏃🏾‍♀️‍➡️ If possible, walk or run with a friend or group.

Your children continue to carry you with them. They speak about you with so much love, and your memory lives on through them and in everything we do.

This Women’s Day and every day, we honour Pearl and every woman whose voice was silenced, whose life was forever altered by violence, and who is still gathering the courage to rise again.

My Girl Pearl was born from heartbreak but it has grown into something more powerful. A call for hope, strength, and action. We will continue to speak her name, to keep her memory alive, and to stand beside every woman who needs to know she is not alone in her pain or her healing.

For Pearl. For her children. For every woman still fighting to be heard, to be safe, to be free. For change. 🌹
