Applications are now open for the Armenian Jewellers Association (AJA) Design Competition 2026–2027. ✨

The fourth edition invites Armenian jewellery designers from around the world to submit two original designs for the opportunity to have their winning work showcased at GemGenève, the International Gem & Jewellery Show, in Geneva, May 11–14, 2027.

• 2 Original designs · separate application for each
• Application fee: USD 100 per design
• 5 Winners · announced January 15, 2027
• Winning designs showcased at GemGenève 2027
• Winners must attend GemGenève in person
• Previous non-winning participants may apply with new designs

Inspired by the mastery of Italian goldsmithing and Baroque splendor, the new Precious Jewel Eau de Parfum is a rare collector's creation, limited to just 40 numbered pieces.

The release features the signature Velvet Collection glass flacon inside the handcrafted jewel cage, showcasing fragrance notes of Amarelli Licorice, To***co Leaf, and Myrrh.

Recalling the grandeur of Baroque artistry while celebrating Italy’s master goldsmithing tradition, the flacon is further distinguished by the inscription “Jawhara”, the Arabic word for jewel. Velvet Precious Jewel is presented in a luxurious black velvet coffret finished with a Dolce&Gabbana golden signature plaque.’

Kamran Rousta: Where Tradition Meets the Digital

Iranian contemporary artist Kamran Rousta creates visually arresting works that sit at the intersection of traditional Iranian art and modern digital expression.

Working across painting, printmaking, photography and graphic techniques, Rousta draws on the rich visual language of Iran — from Persian calligraphy and historical imagery to cultural symbolism — and reinterprets it through a distinctly contemporary lens.

What particularly caught our attention is Rousta’s use of gemstones within his designs. Rather than treating them simply as decorative accents, he incorporates their colour, luminosity and inherent sense of preciousness into compositions where art, culture and adornment converge.

It is this unexpected dialogue between digital creativity and the tactile beauty of gemstones that makes his work especially compelling to a jewellery audience — a reminder that the boundaries between fine art, design and adornment are becoming increasingly fluid.

YAZ & CO began with its founder, Alyazi Al Mansoori, in 2024, from a simple observation: diamonds were too often saved for special occasions rather than worn and enjoyed as part of everyday life.

Alyazi believed fine jewellery was made to be lived in, not kept for a handful of moments a year. As she explored lab-grown diamonds, she saw a way to offer exceptional quality with the freedom to choose: carat size, design, and how a piece fits into everyday life, without compromising on beauty, brilliance or craftsmanship.

Over the next two years, she built YAZ & Co through research, diamond sourcing, supplier selection and design development, with one clear vision: a modern fine jewellery house where quality comes first, and every woman has the freedom to choose it for herself.

In 2026, YAZ & Co officially launched with its first private boutique in Abu Dhabi, rooted in the Gulf and created for women who choose diamonds for themselves as much as for life's milestones. It is a modern diamond house for the way women live today.
