Guesswork is expensive in hospitality.

GHASA helps owners move away from assumptions by providing benchmarking, verified feedback, and structured insights that show what’s really working and what isn’t.

When you understand how guests experience your property, how your offering compares, and where improvements matter most, decisions become clearer and more confident.

This isn’t about chasing perfection.

It’s about making informed improvements that actually impact bookings, trust, and long‑term success.

That’s the real value of GHASA membership.

Cape Town is doing its thing this weekend 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

While some of us are enjoying a lazy Saturday, 44,500 runners have taken over the streets of the Mother City for the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon weekend!

Today's peace runs and trail events are already underway — and tomorrow the big one happens, with a certain Eliud Kipchoge making his first-ever marathon appearance on African soil. 🌍

If you're a guest staying with one of our GHASA members this weekend — you're in the best seat in the house! 🇿🇦

Most guesthouse owners didn’t get into hospitality to manage algorithms, dashboards, or digital systems.
GHASA understands that.

Our role is to handle the technical complexity behind visibility, from AI-ready search presence to structured digital frameworks, so owners can focus on guests, service, and operations.

When technology works quietly in the background, it becomes an advantage instead of a burden.
Simple systems.
Clear support.
Better visibility.

That’s how modern hospitality should feel.

𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗠𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗦𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀

Every movement starts with one person willing to look a little crazy.

There’s a famous TEDx talk by Derek Sivers showing a shirtless guy dancing alone on a hill.

At first, everyone ignores him.

Then one person joins him.

And suddenly… it’s no longer a lone nut.
It’s a movement.

That second person changes everything.

That’s what the early members of Guesthouse Association of South Africa are doing right now.

We believe South Africa’s independent accommodation owners deserve:
• stronger visibility
• better tools
• more support
• more credibility
• a real industry community

But movements only grow when people invite others to join them.

There are still many independent accommodation owners watching from the sidelines.

The tipping point is coming.

And to our early members:
Thank you for having the courage to dance on the hill with us.

South Africa’s tourism sector continues to recover and grow, but growth doesn’t automatically make things easier for independent properties.

Guests are booking differently.

Visibility is driven by digital platforms and AI‑assisted search.
Trust is built online long before a guest arrives.

And competition is no longer just local, it’s national and global.
Industry data shows continued growth in tourism arrivals and accommodation demand, alongside rising expectations around sustainability, flexibility, and digital convenience. Independent properties that recognise these shifts early are better positioned to compete.
Those that don’t often struggle, even when offering great hospitality.

GHASA helps owners stay aligned with real industry changes, providing guidance, tools, and clarity in an increasingly complex market.

Running an independent guesthouse or lodge today means competing with global hotel brands, powerful booking platforms, and rapidly changing technology.
GHASA exists to level that playing field.

We work behind the scenes to give independent owners the framework, digital tools, and credibility needed to stay visible, trusted, and competitive without forcing you to become a tech expert.

This is not about replacing warm hospitality with systems.

It’s about supporting great hospitality with the right structure, so your business can grow sustainably.

GHASA is your strategic partner in a market that never stands still.

Happy Workers Day!

To the guesthouse owners who are doing the laundry, answering the WhatsApps, fixing the geyser, replying to reviews, updating the booking calendar, AND making breakfast...

You are the worker. You are the manager. You are the marketing department. You are HR. You are maintenance. You are the chef.

Today is absolutely your day.
