Something beautiful has found a home at Mooigoed Design!

And I couldn’t be happier to introduce you to MUSE.

MUSE is a mother-and-daughter business based in Cape Town, where they make their own beautiful candles, diffusers and room & linen sprays.

Now, you know how much I love a pretty thing 😉

But what makes this especially meaningful to me is the story behind it.

Two women creating something together.

Putting their time, care and creativity into products they believe in.

And another small business getting to share those creations with you.

Women supporting women. In real life.

Through MEET HER, I’ve been talking so much about individuality, confidence, finding joy in little things and giving ourselves permission to discover what we love.

And I’ve realised something…

Feeling like YOU doesn’t stop at what you wear.

It’s also the little things that make your home feel welcoming.

A beautiful scent.

A candle you light when the day finally slows down.

A room that feels a little more like your own space.

So I’m delighted to welcome MUSE to the Mooigoed family.

You’ll find their candles, diffusers and room & linen sprays in our Plettenberg Bay shop, alongside our jewellery.

And to the lovely mother-and-daughter team behind MUSE — thank you for trusting Mooigoed with your creations.

MEET HER.
Celebrating the women behind the beautiful things.

I’ve been a little quiet on here this week… but I promise Mooigoed hasn’t been quiet behind the scenes!

It’s been one of those weeks filled with earrings, backing cards, packaging, boxes and LOTS of little details.

And one of the lovely things I’ve been busy with?

Getting a beautiful stock order ready for Koekela in Bloemfontein!

There’s something very special about packing jewellery that I’ve designed and made here in Plettenberg Bay, knowing it’s going to find its way into another shop, another town… and eventually into the hands of women I’ve never even met.

And that brings me right back to MEET HER.

Because the women who walk into Koekela won’t all love the same things.

One will fall for the bright colours.

Another will reach for something delicate.

And another might surprise herself by trying the BIG statement earrings.

That’s what I love.

Every woman is different. Her jewellery should be too.

After 13 years of Mooigoed, seeing my designs travel beyond our own little shop still means so much to me.

Thank you, KoekelaHuiskafee for being part of the Mooigoed journey and giving more women the opportunity to discover pieces that feel like THEM.

And to my Bloemfontein ladies — keep an eye out for these pretties at Koekela!

Can I tell you something I’ve been thinking about?

I don’t believe there’s a certain way a woman is supposed to dress once she reaches a certain age.

I don’t think she needs to tone down her colour.

Or stop wearing big earrings.

Or suddenly become more sensible with her style.

And I also don’t think she needs to be bold and colourful if that isn’t who she is.

Because here’s the thing…

We are not all the same woman.

Some of us love flowers.

Some love simplicity.

Some love colour that practically walks into the room before we do.

And some of us are still figuring out what we love.

That’s okay too.

Saturday’s ladies’ tea reminded me just how wonderful it is to see women expressing themselves in their own different ways.

And after 13 years of Mooigoed, one thing hasn’t changed:

I don’t want to tell women what they should wear.

I want to help them discover what makes them look in the mirror and think…

“Ahhh. THERE I am.”

Because your age doesn’t get to decide your style.

YOU do.

Today, MEET HER wasn’t just something I’ve been sharing on Instagram.

She was sitting around a table.

I had the pleasure of attending the Ladies Spring Tea at St Thomas Methodist Church today, and what a lovely afternoon it was!

Tea, delicious treats, conversations, laughter, beautiful colour… and women coming together.

And as I looked around the room, I couldn’t help thinking about everything we’ve been talking about through MEET HER.

Because every woman in that room has a story.

A life she’s lived.

Things she’s overcome.

Things she’s still figuring out.

Her own personality, her own style, her own way of seeing the world.

And that’s what I find so special about women.

We can be wonderfully different and still find so much connection with one another.

I was also delighted that Mooigoed could contribute 100 R50 gift vouchers for the ladies attending.

For me, it was about more than handing out a little something from the shop.

It was an invitation.

To come and visit Mooigoed.

To explore.

To try on something colourful.

To have a little fun discovering what feels like YOU.

Because that’s what I want Mooigoed to be.

Not simply a place where women buy earrings.

A place where women feel welcome to be themselves.

And after today, I’m even more convinced that MEET HER belongs beyond Instagram.

It belongs in our shop.

In our conversations.

In the way we welcome women.

And in the little ways we celebrate what makes each one different.

Thank you to everyone who helped make today’s tea possible. 🤍

And to the lovely ladies who received a Mooigoed voucher — I would absolutely LOVE to welcome you into our Plettenberg Bay shop.

Come say hello!

MEET HER.
Every woman has a story. Every woman deserves to feel seen.

Not every day at Mooigoed looks like a beautiful product photograph.

Some days it’s earrings everywhere, backing cards, packaging, boxes on the floor and trying to remember what still needs finishing.

But there’s something I really love about this part of the process.

These pieces have spent time in my hands.

I’ve chosen the colours, worked on the designs, made them and prepared them.

And now they’re getting ready to leave the studio.

The next part of their story belongs to HER.

The woman who spots a pair and falls in love.

The woman who wears them to work.

The woman who chooses colour when she normally plays it safe.

The woman who puts them on and thinks, “Ohhh, these are SO me!”

That’s something I don’t want to lose sight of as Mooigoed grows.

I’m not just making jewellery to fill displays.

I’m making pieces for real women, living real lives.

And that makes even the messy packaging days feel rather special.

MEET HER.

P.S. Does anyone else have a workbench that looks like this when they’re in full production mode? 😂

So yesterday I didn’t post anything.

Not because I didn’t have anything to share…

I was busy with life. And somewhere in between everything else, I made a lemon tart.

And YES, baking is another one of my happy places!

Which got me thinking about something…

There is so much more to a woman than the roles she fills.

We become known for so many things.

The work we do.

The people we care for.

The responsibilities we carry.

The things everyone needs from us.

And somewhere in the middle of all that, there’s still a woman who has her own interests, talents, dreams and little things that make her ridiculously happy.

For me, it’s creating.

Sometimes that means designing jewellery, playing with colour and making something beautiful for another woman.

And sometimes it means standing in my kitchen, making a lemon tart simply because I LOVE doing it.

No business plan.

No content strategy.

Just the joy of making something.

And I think that’s another part of MEET HER I want us to explore.

Not just the woman you’re becoming.

But the woman you already ARE, underneath all the things you have to do.

The one who loves to paint.

Or garden.

Or dance.

Or bake.

Or read.

Or do something that has absolutely nothing to do with being productive.

She deserves a little space in your life too.

So today I’m introducing you to another little part of ME.

The jewellery designer who also makes a pretty good lemon tart 😉

Now I want to know…

What’s something YOU love doing that people might not know about?

MEET HER.
There’s more to her story.

I wonder how many women need permission to hear this.

You are allowed to change.

Not because there was anything wrong with the woman you used to be.

Quite the opposite.

She lived.

She loved.

She made mistakes.

She survived things.

She learned things.

She carried responsibilities nobody else completely understood.

She made decisions with the information she had at the time.

She got you here.

But you don’t owe her the rest of your life exactly as she would have lived it.

You’re allowed to discover new things about yourself.

You’re allowed to become more colourful. Or quieter.

More adventurous. Or more protective of your peace.

You’re allowed to change your style, your priorities, your dreams and your definition of success.

You’re even allowed to surprise yourself.

Maybe that’s why the words MEET HER keep meaning more to me the longer I sit with them.

Because we’re not desperately trying to get back to some previous version of ourselves.

We’re still here.

Still learning.

Still changing.

Still discovering.

Still becoming.

And perhaps there are beautiful parts of you that you haven’t even met yet.

MEET HER.
Style for the woman you’re becoming.

Send this to a woman who’s entering a new chapter of her own.

07/10/2026

I’ve been thinking about all the things we save for “someday.”

The dress.

The good perfume.

The pretty plates.

The earrings that feel a little too special for an ordinary Wednesday.

And perhaps one of the nicest things about getting older is slowly realising…

we don’t actually need an occasion for the things that bring us joy.

These new earrings I’ve been making are colourful, floral, feminine, slightly whimsical…

and they make me HAPPY just looking at them.

And isn’t that reason enough?

MEET HER isn’t only about discovering what your style is.

It’s also about giving yourself permission to enjoy it.

Wear the colour.

Wear the flowers.

Wear the earrings somebody might think are “a bit much.”

Use the good things.

Stop keeping everything you love for a version of your life that only happens “someday.”

Because perhaps the woman you’re becoming has realised:

Liking it is reason enough.

These new beauties are heading into the Mooigoed shop and aren’t online yet.

If you’re not close enough to pop in but you see one that has your name written ALL over it, send me a message about pre-ordering.

MEET HER.
Style for the woman you’re becoming.

This might be one of my favourite parts of what I do.

The making is finished.

They’re packaged.

They’re ready to go into the shop.

And now I get to wonder…

Who’s going to choose which one?

Because I can make a whole collection and have my own favourites…

but then someone walks into Mooigoed Design, spots a pair I wouldn’t necessarily have chosen for her and immediately says:

“Ohhhh. I LOVE those.”

And THAT is the bit I love.

Because after everything we’ve been talking about with MEET HER, I’m becoming even more convinced that personal style isn’t about owning more things.

It’s about recognising the things that feel like you.

The colour that makes you happy.

The shape you’re always drawn to.

The pair that’s perhaps a little bolder than you’d normally wear… but you put them on and suddenly think:

Ahhh. THERE I am.

So no, I don’t need you to love every pair I make.

I just hope that somewhere amongst all the colour, flowers, shapes and slightly crazy ideas that come out of the Mooigoed studio…

there’s one that feels unmistakably YOU.

And these beauties are ready to go and meet their women.

MEET HER.
Style for the woman you’re becoming.

Now tell me — did one of these make you stop for a second?

I’ve been wanting to talk about this for a while.

And perhaps MEET HER is exactly the right place to do it.

As a small business owner, I know that sometimes a Mooigoed Design piece will be compared to something that can be bought incredibly cheaply from places like Temu or Shein.

And yes — the price can look very different.

But we’re not really comparing the same thing.

Behind Mooigoed Design are real people.

There are ideas scribbled down, colours chosen, designs changed because something didn’t quite work, materials ordered, equipment we’ve invested in, pieces made, photographed, packed and sent out.

There is a physical little shop and studio.

There are salaries and business expenses.

There are people whose hands actually make the jewellery you wear.

And after 13 years of building this business, I’ve realised something:

I don’t want Mooigoed Design to win because we’re the cheapest.

I want us to earn your business because you found something here that made you think:

“Ohhhh. THAT’S me.”

I’m also not here to make anyone feel guilty about where they shop. We all have budgets. We all make different choices.

But I do think it’s worth asking ourselves occasionally:

Am I buying this because I genuinely love it… or because it’s cheap enough that I don’t have to think about it?

Because perhaps we don’t need another ten things we’ll forget about.

Perhaps we need fewer things that we absolutely LOVE.

Things we’ll wear again.

Things with personality.

Things made by people.

Things that make getting dressed a little more fun.

And THAT feels very much like the woman we’re meeting this October.

More isn’t the goal.
More YOU is.

MEET HER.
