🎗️🎀ALGOA FM BIG WALK FOR CANCER 2026🎀🎗️
The 28th annual Algoa FM Big Walk for Cancer will take place from Po***ck Beach on Saturday, 31 October 2026.
Start Walk at Po***ck Beach grass area, walk on the seaside walkway/cycle path to Hobie Beach. Turn at the Boat Gate
Road Closure starts from La Roche drive to Traffic lights in front of Beach Hotel, after turn off into Hobie Beach and extends to Admiralty Way, which will be open to turn to Willows side.
Walkers use the Hobie Beach grass pathway to access the turn at the top of the traffic lights to start walk back on the road-side towards Beacon.
1km at Hobie Beach turn.
2km at Marine Hotel
2.5km at start – Po***ck Beach
3km on field land side (10TH Ave approximately)
⚠️Event Route Road Closure⚠️
1. Traffic vehicle and officer at entrance to Hobie Beach’s Boardwalk Complex, opposite Asteron entrance – allow vehicles to park to support restaurants, but when full will be returned to La Roche drive direction
2. Marshals at parking area to liaise with traffic and marshals at fenced and coned area where walkers turn to walk up Marine Drive towards Po***ck Beach
3. Fenced lane from 2nd ave towards Asteron to allow these residents to exit and entrants to access Summerstrand lanes to park and walk to Po***ck Beach start
4. 8th avenue to be completely closed
5. Parking of walker vehicles to be allowed on grass area in front of Summerstrand Village and field to the right of this grass area
6. Marshalls on 9th avenue, and Coned lane from Retief Plein to 9th ave, to allow residents to exit; Managed Crossing from SummerSeas Complex to 9th ave to allow residents to exit
7. Traffic vehicle and officer at Admiralty way to direct Willows traffic up Admiralty and Admiralty towards Willows, supported by marshals
8. 58 marshals on route
9. Traffic onsite at 06.30 to close roads from Hobie beach with fencing – full road closure from 07.00 latest, as walk starts at 08.00
10. Rolling opening from both Hobie Beach and Admiralty as last walker passes, to squeeze opening of roads back to centre/Po***ck Beach at the earliest with fencing dropped ahead of traffic opening. 8th and 9th avenues kept closed until walker safety is ensured.
3.5km at Beacon Turn
4km before Summer Seas complex
Final Loop within Something Good car park walk outer perimeter and back on the pathway behind Something Good Restaurant to the grass field closest to Summer Seas Complex near Race Village, Po***ck Beach. The finish will be on a separate field to the start.
