Design Vaults Jewellery is a celebration of meticulous craftsmanship, conscious design, and the beauty of the cosmos – all lovingly handmade by Marie one piece at a time. The collections feature sterling silver, gold or resin with vibrant foils and precious metal leaf. Design Vaults is a member of the Craft Council and the Association for Contemporary Jewellery.

About last week. Well, the last few weeks really.

This October has been my busiest ever - which is a bit random as it’s usually pretty quiet in the lead up to Christmas, but not this year.

Plus I don’t think I’ve ever made as much stock in 2 weeks, ever. My hands are definitely feeling the pace 🫣

And then I saw more stars than ever on the (forecast), darkest night of the month. Utterly magnificent ✨

I’m incredibly excited to share the news that I’m joining the Bath Christmas Market for the full 3 weeks this year, and from a new location!

Find me & all my handmade treasures on Kingston Parade for residents evening (Wednesday 25th), and for the full market from Thursday 26th Nov to Sunday 13th Dec.

New location. New, longer duration. Old me 😄

Back from an incredible weekend in Brighton on a Mitsuro Hikime masterclass with the wonderful & super talented tutor .

Such an art form. So many ideas & possibilities.

I’m not sure I’ll have time to develop any pieces in time for Christmas but this method is freeing, inspiring, frustrating & joyful - so you can definitely expect new Mitsuro Hikime work in 2027 💕

The night sky is the inspiration for my work. I create jewellery that communicates the same sense of wonder I see when gazing into the night sky.

I took these pictures during the Perseid meteor shower in August.

My designs begin with sketches drawn late at night, trying to capture how the stars feel rather than how they look.

My designs have intentional references to the stars, constellations & the night sky - which provides endless inspiration for my designs.

I have news 📣

Earlier this year I decided to move away from 9k gold plating. As I’ve continued to refine my gold jewellery designs I realised that I prefer the buttery, golden tone and reliability of 18k gold vermeil. 

Gold vermeil is a layer of real gold, at least 2.5 microns thick, that’s bonded over my recycled sterling silver and is a higher quality product than traditional 9k gold plating. Giving you that little bit of luxury without the hefty price tag of pure gold 💛

Demonstrating this perfectly is my brand new Sun necklace ☀️ I took these pics on one of my Summer Lates visits to the Roman Baths, when the sun was still shining and I didn’t need to wear a jumper…
