One of my favourite parts of making jewellery is the bit where I get to slow down.

Hand engraving is a skill I’ve been learning and developing alongside my contour map wall pieces, and there’s something very satisfying about combining an old-fashioned technique with something so personal and contemporary.

Every line is cut by hand, and when that landscape represents somewhere that really matters to someone, it makes the hours spent at the bench feel very worthwhile.

Keeping traditional craft alive, while making something completely personal each time 🗺

Special places always stay with you 🗺

For S & B, it’s a quiet bay at the foot of Ben More on the Isle of Mull. They first found it on a spontaneous trip to Scotland in their campervan, after deciding to visit Mull the night before they left.

Following a day climbing Ben More through fog and salty winds, they returned to the van as the clouds cleared and the evening light settled over the bay. That night they shared a magical moment, as an otter appeared from the water.

They’ve returned to the same spot many times since, and when they decided to have their civil partnership rings made, this was the landscape they wanted to carry with them.

The two rings are slightly different - one capturing more of the mountains and the other more of the water.

A favourite landscape, a lot of Scottish adventures, and a memory of one very good evening in Mull, all captured in gold ✨️
