What makes a landscape worth commemorating?
For R&L, it wasn't simply the beauty of Lewis & Harris, although there is certainly plenty of that. It was the feeling of belonging they found there. The sense of community, the memories made, the moment they realised a small bothy in Uigean had become their home from home.
This bespoke contour map was commissioned to celebrate that connection; a landscape of ancient rock, Atlantic weather and ever-changing light, transformed into a permanent piece of handcrafted metalwork.
One line from their interview has stayed with me:
"We have looked, and now we see."
I think that's often what meaningful places do. They ask us to slow down, pay attention, and recognise why they matter.
I'd love to know what landscape holds a special place in your heart?
