Behind the scenes of Eglefino 🎬

Here, the film’s two animation techniques come together side by side: 2D and 3D sharing the same scene, each bringing its own visual language to the story. 🎨

This creative choice runs throughout the film, helping highlight Eglefino’s uniqueness — a little troublemaker finding his place in the world of fairy tales.

Making these different styles interact naturally was one of the project’s biggest challenges, but also one of the things that made the process so rewarding. ✨

Sometimes the performance starts long before the animation 🎭

For this scene from Eglefino, Uncle Boogie’s lead animator Leonardo Ferrò personally acted out the sequence that later became the reference for the final animation.

Using live-action performance as a starting point helped shape movement, rhythm and expression in a more natural and grounded way. ✨

In our movie “Eglefino” we chose to give her a different edge: more determined, a little bossy, definitely not the naive version you might expect!
