I had the privilege of hosting our June book club this weekend. Our book was The School of Essential Ingredients by Erica Bauermeister. I loved the way the author's language described the food - you could smell the aromas, taste the flavors, and feel the texture of every dish. Needless to say, I've found another favorite author.
True to the theme of the book, we had a cooking class where we made individual wood fired pizzas. While we assembled our pizzas, we discussed the book and the stories for the dishes we brought to share.
I took each recipe and created our own recipe book to share as well as our "essential ingredients" spice blend to take home. The shared recipes centered on family members who have passed and feeling close to them; recipes that remind us of friendship and love; and dishes that bring people together.
We capped the night off with hand and block painted tea towels. I'm amazed at my friends ' creativity!
From themed drinks and graphics to fresh flowers and shades of blue, I carefully curated the details to make the ladies feel loved and to bring out the details of the book.
So blessed to be a part of partybetweenthepages and to have found a wonderful group of women to share life with.
