Because let’s be real, the outdoor space is where vacation actually happens.

For us, this is where slow mornings start with coffee that turns into long conversations… where beach days wind down but nobody really wants to go inside… and where kids somehow find a second wind and keep playing long past bedtime.

We designed it with “connection” in mind…family meals, good drinks, lots of laughter, and a hot tub made for those late-night talks that stretch a little longer than planned.

This is the kind of space where everyone naturally gathers… and the memories pretty much make themselves.

Sneak peek from the OBX 🌊✨ and our newest vacation rental design project at Blue Water Retreat Beach House in Kill Devil Hills, tucked away in Colington.

This home is almost ready to welcome guests and it was designed with one thing in mind: slowing down and making space for family vacations and the people you love most. Sleeping up to 10, it’s the kind of place where long meals turn into late-night laughs, and every corner invites you to just stay a little longer.

And yes… one of the most unique parts of the experience is that you can arrive by boat. 🚤

Like so many homes in the Outer Banks, Blue Water Retreat carries its own family history, and we’ve loved honoring that story while layering in a fresh, relaxed coastal feel that feels easy, warm, and lived-in.

Reveal coming early May! We can’t wait to open the doors and show you the before + after transformation. 🤍🌾🌊🐟

The client had incredible style and such a clear vision and I had the privilege of collaborating on key pieces like the kitchen + bathroom tile and design. (SO good 🙌).

Grateful for amazing vendors like Quality materials make all the difference.

And let me tell you… this project taught me a whole new level of respect for logistics. Shipping freight to an island is no joke 😅 but such a great learning experience!

The best part is seeing our clients love it and watching it thrive 💛

Making big moves in just a few days 👏🏼

This crew is moving fast, and it’s so exciting to see this OBX Flat Top coming back to life. We’re extending the bedrooms and bath to create more functional space. Think better closets and a more spacious bathroom, while staying true to the original 1950s charm.

The goal? Modern comfort without losing the soul.

The porch stays (of course)… complete with that classic “haint blue” ceiling 🩵 because some details are just too special to change.

The Blue Turtle Cottage was designed to feel relaxed, warm, and welcoming. This time of year, the fireplace will definitely come in handy. It’s a place where guests can truly unwind, whether it’s winter, spring, summer, or fall.

No heavy coastal clichés. Just thoughtful layers, soft colors with hints of yellow and blue, and a layout that works beautifully for everyday living and year-round guests.
