Nicole Mann Novick’s foray into jewelry design was both a natural progression and an unexpected, but welcome venture. As a style writer and editor, Nicole has always sought out new and unusual items. If she cannot find something to fit a particular vision, she has always created it herself. For her New York City wedding’s invitation, Nicole developed a personal insignia, placing her initials with
her husband’s in an antique garland border. On Nicole’s first anniversary, she engraved the crest on a classic, vintage-inspired, gold plate to remind her of that day. What was intended as something special and sentimental ultimately took on a life of its own as people began requesting the plate with their own or loved one’s initials. At the urging of her fashion-minded colleagues, Nicole decided to design a small collection of pieces based on the original necklace and crest that was receiving so much attention. She named her new line after her grandparents who were her style icons. Garland Collection today: While the Signature Collection’s nameplates will always be the cornerstones of the line, today the Garland Collection line showcases designs ranging from statement cocktail rings and multi-bar ID bracelets to animal pendants, stacking rings and wedding bands. Because of the often monogrammed or engraved nature of the custom and handmade pieces, Garland Collection fine jewelry is always personal and timeless. Garland Collects vintage jewelry: Garland Collects is a carefully curated selection of vintage and estate costume jewelry spanning the 19th through the 20th century. Nicole Mann Novick, the designer of Garland Collection fine jewelry, has been collecting vintage costume jewelry for more than a decade, fascinated not only by its history, but by the bold look that so many of these pieces exude. Often inspired by these pieces in her own line, Nicole regularly layers her own wardrobe with the fine and delicate jewelry she creates, as well as the exuberant costume jewelry she so admires. Having spent years literally scouring the world to add to her own growing collection, Nicole now offers her special vintage costume jewelry finds to Garland Collection clients under the name Garland Collects. While we try to offer as much information as possible about a particular piece, whether it’s signed by famed costume jewelry designers like Hattie Carnegie, Trifari, Haskell, or Hagler, or even Chanel, Pierre Cardin, YSL, or Karl Lagerfeld – the spirit of Garland Collects is in the inherent beauty of the pieces we favor. Garland Collects earrings, necklaces, bracelets, and brooches do not need to be signed, they simply need to be special. We celebrate and showcase the finds that speak to us, whether for the colors of the stones, the simplicity of a striking design, or the intricate details in a larger than life piece. Garland Collects Maison: Rounding out the Garland Collection lifestyle, Nicole has recently launched Garland Collects Maison. Gravitating toward sophisticated, yet playful spaces, quirky and decadent tablescapes, and rooms that reflect a life well-loved and lived, designer and writer Nicole Mann Novick showcases a carefully curated selection of vintage and antique serving pieces, décor and custom textiles.
