A city in Germany has found a simple way to help people sleeping outside during freezing winter nights.
In Ulm, insulated pods called **Ulmer Nests** provide a small, private place to rest when temperatures become dangerous. Made from wood and steel, they protect against wind, rain, and cold, with space for one or two people and even a pet.
The pods also include ventilation, solar power, and sensors that alert local teams when they are being used.
They are not meant to replace permanent housing or shelters. Instead, they offer emergency protection for people who may not use traditional shelters.
It is a small idea, but one designed to provide safety, dignity, and a better chance of getting through the night.
