In addition to introducing myself it would only be right to introduce my first love, Malachite, better known as Mal.

A lot of people assume I work with a lot of malachite but as confusing as it may be, my first dogs name was Malachite. I got this sweet boy basically the moment I moved into my first apartment, at the young age of 19. He was there through it all and he was my ride or die. We were attached at the hip, he was always with me. I can confidently say that he helped me become the person I am today. He was always by my side in the studio so it seemed fitting to name my company after him, and the name, it just worked. My logo is a silhouette of my sweet boy and it brings me serious joy to have each of my pieces stamped with a little Mal for the rest of time.

He may be gone but he lives on through each piece I make and that brings me peace. He was the kindest soul, a gentle giant. He was Timbers big brother and our best friend.

So this may be a jewelry business but we have and always will be about the dawgs 🫶🏼

Hiiii.

There’s loads of new people in this little Skip corner of the world so I figured it was about time I did a little intro.

Skip here! I am the one woman show behind Malachite Silver Co. I started this biz during peak quarantine mostly just to occupy my free time and do something with my hands. But it quickly turned into something so much more. I had never really been good at “art” but something with smithing just instantly clicked. I was obsessed. At the time I was the GM of a few dispensaries in Montana and was working an insane amount of hours between the two. I would wake up at 5am to work in my studio before heading off to my real job to come home and immediately go back into my studio. I did this juggle for two years before I quit my salaried position, moved to Oregon and put everything into my business. It was and still is the scariest but best thing I’ve ever done.

Fast forward four years and while I still have a long ways to go and always will in this craft the growth has been insane both personally and in this biz. I’m learning and pushing myself every day. I’m teaching smithing at not one but two places in Portland. I’m supporting myself and my two pups, Doc Watson and Timber, completely solo. I’m proud, I’m happy. And I’m so excited to keep learning and growing every day.

I’m going to get better at showing you all bits and pieces of the life I’m building here but here’s a little peek into how it all started.

All these beauts dropped yesterday and all but one remain! These pieces are beauty, they are grace. They’re everything I love about smithing and this work encapsulated into wearable art by yours truly.

And if you’ve been following along on my dental emergency from hell, don’t fret, I have an update and it’s enthralling. Today I got to go to the dentist for the 3rd time in 3 days only to be referred to an oral surgeon in three short weeks for a consult. So that’s tight. I love our healthcare system S’MUCH.

Anyways, jewelry is tight, supporting small biz is tight. This country? Not so tight.
