Me, Mum and Dad went to Reims, in the Champagne region last weekend - a 40 minute train from Paris and the perfect weekend break IMO. The whole place is walkable and if you like Champagne it’s in all the history and all the cafe’s. Here is what we did and how I rated it
Worth noting *everything* needs to be booked in advance- the Champagne houses, the Cathedral tour and the restaurants etc.
Ate at:
Le Crypto
Au Petit Comptoir
Basta
Didn’t manage to get to Le Vin Sur Vingt or Cafe Du Palais but both recommended
Champagne tastings:
Tresors de Champagne (smaller producers)
V***e Clicquot (with a tour of the huge chalk cellars)
We wanted to go to Ruinart as it came highly recommended but book 6 weeks in advance
Sites:
Reims cathedral- book a tour online for €7
Basilique Saint - Remi
Musee Saint- Remi
Musee- Hotel Le Vergeur - tours on the hour, pop in and ask in advance
Halles Boulingrin Marche- ONLY on Saturdays, but it’s great
